If your field-day format calls for group activities, break students into good character teams. Several days prior to the event, give students Good Character Wins On Field Day Bookmarks to get them thinking about how good character ties in with field day. On the day of the activities, break students into groups and give each a team name such as respect, cooperation, fairness, or other good qualities that are included in your schools character education program. After all events are completed, present each child with a Were All Stars T-Shirt. |

Happy Hunting |
Encourage teamwork between students by starting off the days activities with a scavenger hunt. Put kids into groups and select volunteers to supervise. Give each team a list of things to do or find, such as Do 10 jumping jacks or Find fallen leaves from a nearby tree. Have the groups turn in their completed lists along with found items, and give each student and volunteer who participated a Doing My Best Makes Me A Winner Silicone Bracelet or a Volunteers: Priceless Treasures Silicone Bracelet to wear for the rest of the day. |

Listen To The Music |
Spice up your field day with some popular tunes sung by students! Make arrangements to have a karaoke machine set up near where activities take place. Allow students time to take a break in between events to sing if they want. Those who dont want to sing can stop and listen and even dance. Present Winner: I Did My Best Lollipops or Im An All Star Sparkle Foil Pencils to those brave enough to sing in front of everyone.

Recognize And Reward

Let kids know that your school thinks being a good sport is very important. When volunteers arrive to start setting up in the morning, discuss good sportsmanship with them. Explain instances when children are good sports, such as one student cheering on another or saying You did great when a fellow student finishes a race. Give volunteers Good Sport Sticker Rolls and tell them to present a sticker to each child they hear or see being a good sport. At the end of the day, those who have stickers can be given A Good Sport Is Always A Winner Rainbow Silicone Bracelets.

Play With Your Food |
Since eating well is just as important as exercise when it comes to a healthy lifestyle, incorporate the USDAs Food Pyramid into your schools field day celebration. Use plastic bananas as batons in relay races and hold a race where children have to carry a watermelon to one end of the field and then run back. Have plenty of fruits and veggies for field day participants to snack on throughout the day, as well as Field Day Is A Treat Pretzel Pack and Good Sports Snack Smart On Field Day Graham Cookie Pack. |

Farm And Field Day |
Get out your cowboy hat and overalls and plan on bringing the barnyard to your schoolyard for field day. Use farm-related items in your activities, such as hay bales to sit on or jump over, and hold relay races with buckets full of water to hand off to teammates instead of batons. The team with the most water left in the bucket at the end wins. You could also arrange to have a petting zoo so kids can pet real farm animals. Hand out ribbons from the Award Ribbons Assortment Pack for each event on your agenda.

Encourage students to participate in a variety of activities by creating punch cards for them to fill. Using card stock, create a bingo-like card with an area where they can write names of events and put stickers. The day of the event, pass out the cards to children. As they go through the different activities, such as Tug-of-War or a relay race, the volunteers working in those stations can give each participant a sticker from the Tug Of War Roll Stickers and Relay Race Roll Stickers. Those who fill their cards can receive Im A Winner Dog Tags. |
