Dance Of Gratitude |

This year, dance your way into your CNAs’ hearts! Use the balloons, buttons, posters and mints from the Nursing Assistant’s Celebration Pack throughout your facility to create a festive mood. Arrange a different dance performance for each day of the week. Monday have square dancers, Tuesday have belly dancers, Wednesday have Irish dancers, and so forth. At the end of the week, give each CNA a Certified Nursing Assistant FM Auto Scan Radio so everyone will have music to dance to his or her own beat.

Handwriting On The Wall |

Add another guessing game to your repertoire of Nursing Assistants’ Week activities. Hand out a "Nursing Assistants: Hearts & Hands That Care" Mini Pen-On-A-Rope to each person participating in the game. Have everyone write down the same sentences, such as "I love nursing." Post these sentences on the wall. Let people try to guess each other’s handwriting. Present Drawstring Backpacks to the winners.

Your nursing assistants have great inner beauty; help this beauty shine on the outside. Make appointments for them to have professional portraits taken. Choose a photography studio that applies makeup, styles hair and provides glamorous clothing. After the photo shoots, pass out Photo Frames of Appreciation for your nursing assistants to put their photos in. Also give out "Shining Star" Spa Kits so recipients can keep up the radiant glow.

Put It In Poetry |

Enlist others in finding the right words for highlighting the special qualities of your nursing assistants. Send an e-mail and put up notices asking workers and management to write positive poems about the nursing assistant staff; include a deadline for submission. The verses don’t necessarily have to rhyme, but rhyming can be fun. Display the poems. Give more words of appreciation by mailing out Nursing Assistants Greeting Cards, which come with a special verse. |

Reward loyalty to your organization by assembling a cute little present for your nursing assistants who have worked for you over a year. Start with packs of gum and small gift bags. Attach a note to each pack that reads, "Thanks for sticking with (name of organization)." Put the gum in the gift bags. Also include in each bag an "Attitude Is Everything" Square Sticky Pad or the whole "Attitude Is Everything" Stationery Set which comes with the sticky pad as well as
a notepad and funky pen.

Send your nursing assistants on a search. Create sets of letters that spell out "compassion." Make enough for one set per person. Mix up the letters, then hide them one at a time throughout your facility. Have your nursing assistants find as many letters as they can. Tell them that the goal is to spell "compassion." They will have to trade letters with each other until everyone has a complete set. When they turn in the letters, give out "Nursing Assistants: Compassion In Action" T-Shirts.

Some-Bunny Special |

Use pictures of bunny rabbits to decorate around the edges of a bulletin board. Fill the middle of the board with rabbit cutouts, made by tracing a rabbit-shaped stencil (available at craft stores). On each cutout write, "[Name] Is Some-Bunny Special." Also write a reason why that person is appreciated. Spread the warm feelings even further by giving each nursing assistant or CNA an "I’m Appreciated" Microfleece Blanket.
