Thank All For Their Special Touch |

This year’s theme, “Touching Lives With Care,” was selected by customers like you, and it’s ideal for your facility. Our “Touching Lives With Care” Decoration Pack comes complete with everything from mints and ribbons to balloons and a banner to make an awesome display of your gratitude. You might want to hang the banner outside to impress everyone who visits or drives by your facility. Then reward employees with your choice of items with the same thoughtful “Touching Lives” theme. These include Deluxe Lunch Bags and Hand-Powered Flashlights. Hand them out individually for a personal touch in keeping with this year’s theme.

Have A Dessert social |
Everyone loves dessert, so invite your staff to treat each other to a delightful dessert social! Have everyone whip up a dessert to share. Schedule a time to bring your staff together and make this a sit-down event. Wherever you hold the social, put a “Thanks For Making Residents The Heart Of Our Home” Gift Book And Pen Set at each place setting. Then surprise all attendees when they’re ready to leave by giving each of them a 3-Section Plate With Lid for taking home leftovers. Every time they reuse the container, your gratitude–and the enjoyable event you held in their behalf will be remembered.

Every Story Counts
| |
Your residents probably have rich memories from their birthplaces. Pay tribute to each of their heritages during National Nursing Home Week with a special luncheon at which residents are invited to wear or bring something from their hometown or homeland. Get details in advance so you can cater ethnic foods or assign staff members to prepare them. Have items on display from the different places represented. Give your staff “Our Residents, Our Passion” T-Shirts to wear, and hang up “Our Residents, Our Passion” Posters. Take photos of the event and display them afterwards. Then, thank staff for their efforts by giving each an “Our Residents Our Passion” Photo Tote Bag. |

Hold a game day for everyone, residents and staff. Set up a carnival atmosphere with live entertainment, cotton candy and an outdoor barbecue. For prizes, award Positive Promotions gifts. Staff members will love winning “Nursing Home Staff Appreciation” Snack Packs, and residents will be grateful for “We Love Our Residents” Silicone Bracelets. Games could include egg toss, water gun fights, magnetic fishing, and paddle balls. Casino-type games are often favorites, so you may want to include some here.

Big Band, Big Publicity |
Let the public know about the fine work you do, while at the same taking them down memory lane. Hire a big band orchestra to play at your facility. (Music departments in high schools and colleges often have leads to relatively inexpensive bands in your area.) Pass out flyers as well as announce the event in your local newspapers. Charge a nominal fee to help cover your expenses. And have everyone who gets a ticket eligible for a raffle. This will increase attendance. For your raffle, have several “We Love Our Residents” gift items, such as Mugs, Deluxe Lunch Bags and Double Pocket Totes. This is an excellent opportunity to hand out flyers about your services. |

Celebrate Your Great Staff Great Team! |
It takes teamwork to consistently do good work, and National Nursing Home Week is the time to show everyone on your team how much you value their skills and cooperation. Cater a very special dinner for your staff. In the weeks before, have someone take photos of your staff and residents to put together a slideshow. If possible, get relief help so as many staff members as possible can attend. Set up a seating plan, so you can put the appropriate Lapel Pins by each place setting, for staff such as nurses, volunteers, social workers, occupational therapists, and more. At the dinner, arrange for speeches so each department gets special recognition. Then hold the slideshow, set to music if possible. When the lights come back on, give everyone a “Great Staff-Great Team” Tumbler to celebrate their working together. |

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! |
Sometimes just a simple “Thank You” means the world to hard-working professionals! Order a bunch of “Touching Lives With Care” Greeting Cards and give out one or more to the families of each resident. Ask that they write something special to one or more staff members and return the cards to a designated activity coordinator by a certain date. Then, during National Nursing Home Week, distribute the cards to each person, along with a Nursing Home Gift Basket. |

Distribute new tickets daily and draw for gifts, such as “I’m Appreciated” Double Pocket Totes. Intermingle these with gift certificates from stores in your community. If you have shifts, hold drawings during each shift. On the final day, hold a special luncheon at which praise is given to everyone at your facility, and each employee receives “A Great Staff, Great Team” Tumbler. |
