In 1968, following a recommendation by the President's Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of Justice the previous year which called for the establishment of a single phone number nationwide for reporting emergency situations, AT&T (the American Telephone and Telegraph Company) selected the digits 9-1-1 (nine-one-one) as the emergency code throughout the United States. This code met many needs, from being brief and quickly memorized to its uniqueness and ease with the plans of phone companies.

Furthermore, in 2008, the U.S. Congress first recognized April as National 9-1-1 Education Month, supporting the efforts of the National 9-1-1 Education Coalition to call upon public safety officials, schools, government officials, and industry leaders to educate children, seniors, and the community about the importance and appropriate use of 9-1-1.

Positive Promotions is proud to offer a wealth of resources and materials to support your 9-1-1 Emergency Education efforts. We offer Educational Activities Books that instruct children to dial 9-1-1 in an emergency through fun activities and coloring pages designed to engage their interests. There are also trendy bracelets and wristbands, lollipops, 9-1-1 stickers with safety tips, temporary tattoos, and colorful die-cut bookmarks.

In addition, you'll find everything you need to reach children and parents in your community when holding an open house, attending a safety fair or community outreach event, or visiting a school to stress 9-1-1 education.
