SOLUTION

A hospital in the Southwest went all out to show its nurses how super they are! Nurses were asked what their superpowers are and each person’s picture was posted with the answer. They enjoyed a cake that featured Batman and Superman being saved by Florence Nightingale, and also enjoyed a “power” breakfast and “super” salads and snacks. Among other superhero-themed gifts, nurses received Socks and Retractable Badge Holders.

CHALLENGE

Recognize nursing assistants for the treasures they are.

SOLUTION

An assisted living facility in the Southwest organized a number of treasure-related activities for nursing assistants. They enjoyed a pirate-themed luncheon, a treasure hunt, and played a “guess-the-number-of-jewels” game. In addition to receiving treasure chests full of chocolates and gift cards, nursing assistants were given Retractable Badge Holders and Tumblers.

Make every day of Nurses Week special for nurses.

SOLUTION

A health clinic in the Midwest started the week off by giving a fun word search to staff. The next day, staff members enjoyed a potluck lunch and a round of Bingo. On Wednesday, Tote Bags were handed out to female nurses and Lunch Bags were given to male nurses. All of the clinic's nurses received bags of candy on Thursday and, on Friday, enjoyed ice cream and other fun activities.

Throw an appreciation party for both nurses and nursing assistants.

SOLUTION

An assisted living and rehab facility in the Midwest held two separate parties—one for nurses during Nurses Week and the other during Nursing Assistants Week for their nursing assistants. Both parties featured colorful decorations, tasty food, desserts supplied by the dietary department, and karaoke for entertainment. The director of nursing handed out Key Tags and put together special gift bags that held Tumblers.

A healthcare group in the Northeast began Nurses Week by giving nurses Treat Packs. On Tuesday, a Nurses Week party was thrown, and nurses participated in a word find on Wednesday. A special luncheon was held Thursday and, on Friday, nurses received Tumblers.

A Hospice provider in the Midwest used items like Key Tags and candy to let nurses know that many people appreciate their efforts. Nurses also received Years of Service Lapel Pins that they wear proudly with their name tags, a representative from the Hospice facility said. The items boosted employee morale and showed appreciation for a difficult job that often seems thankless, the representative added.

Serve up some appreciation (and a healthy treat) for CNAs.

SOLUTION

Administrators at a senior community in the Midwest made smoothies for CNAs and treated them to a picnic-style luncheon. Smoothies were poured into Tumblers and lunches came in Lunch Bags. Nursing assistants always look forward to their Nursing Assistant Week gifts and how they will be presented, according to a representative from the senior community.

An oncology-focused medical practice in the Northwest celebrated its nurses by taking them to a local winery for dinner. There, nurses received Years of Service Lapel Pins from Positive Promotions as well as other gifts. This exciting evening was attended by a number of healthcare professionals who wanted to show their appreciation for the work of the nurses.

A representative from a religious-based healthcare provider on the West Coast ordered Key Chains for nurses and CNAs. Then, two trees were planted on the facility grounds—one for nurses and one for nursing assistants. “The staff was especially happy to have a tree planted and receive the gift of the Key Chain,” she said, adding that this was the first time they have been honored that way.

During Nurses Week, a hospital in the Midwest held a “Nurses Night Out” and had over 30 items that nurses could win as part of the evening festivities. The prizes helped show nurses how much they’re appreciated and also made the evening fun, the organizer of the event said.
