National Cyber Security Awareness Month originated in 2004 through a joint effort from the National Cyber Security Alliance and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and is celebrated every October to raise awareness for Americans to stay safe and more secure online. Over the years, the month has grown in participation to industries, college campuses, non-profit organizations, and members of the community, reaching over 5 billion people.
