In May of 2016, our Positive Promotions researchers received survey results from nearly 400 hospitals across the country on whether or not they utilize Welcome Programs and/or Employee Wellness Programs at their facilities. This survey not only helps us get a better look at current trends in the hospital recognition marketplace, but also helps our merchandising team find new products that would appeal to the needs of our customers.
We're happy to share some of the findings from the Hospital Resource Survey with you here, in hopes that it may inspire you to start your own programs, or give you fresh ideas on how to add to existing Welcome Programs and wellness initiatives.
We asked customers that responded "Yes" to whether or not they had a Welcome Program if they gave out gifts to new employees.
The results were divided nearly down the middle, with equal number of respondents answering, "Yes" and "No". Furthermore, over 28% of our respondents were found to both have a Welcome Program and give gifts to new employees. If you're leaning towards giving your new hires welcome gifts, be sure you can count on Positive Promotions for the finest selection of customized and promotional recognition gifts in the industry!
Next, we asked the surveyed customers what type of welcome gifts they gave, and the findings leaned towards classic everyday use products.
It's clear that pens, drinkware, and bags are the most popular promotional products offered in many situations. And it's interesting that most hospitals would give these as welcome gifts to new employees, possibly for the ease of use, or even for the portability. Either way, it's a great idea for getting your brand seen, as new employees are most likely to use their gifts around the office, or even in the community, such as taking a water bottle to the gym, or keeping a pen handy at home and in the car.
Most of the customers responded Human Resources is the department responsible the new employee Welcome Program, but it's interesting to note a handful of hospitals have departments that handle their own welcome gifts, such as Nursing or Marketing. Whatever department covers your welcome program, we have you covered with our selection of unforgettable promotional products!
We asked the hospitals on the survey if they had an Employee Wellness program available, and nearly 3/4 of the respondents answered "Yes". The types of Employee Wellness Programs they offer included Wellness Centers, Gym Memberships, Walking Programs, Weight Loss Programs, and more.
For those that responded positively, we next asked if they used educational products as employee handouts, and if so, which kind.
According to the findings, over 43 percent of those customers that responded have both an Employee Wellness Program and purchase educational products for it. By a wide margin, printed informational products are the most popular educational resources given to employees, including takeaway pamphlets and fliers, as well as walking and activity logs. The next most popular products were cost-effective fitness pedometers and customized pens, both of which are portable and practical.
Here at Positive Promotions, you'll find a wide variety of educational tools and resources for your Employee Wellness Programs, We also offer many walking and activity logs to help your staff undertake healthier lifestyles, as well as a huge assortment of pedometers and pens, most of which can be customized with your organization's name or message. Plus, there are water bottles, magnets, first aid kits, and many more wellness initiatives to boost awareness and participation among your team.
Our next survey question was whether or not respondents gave out incentives or rewards to employees who participate in their Wellness Programs. The findings showed that nearly half of those who responded did purchase incentives for their Employee Wellness Programs, and what they purchased brought very interesting results.
An overwhelming number of respondents mentioned "Discount on health insurance" or "Cash/Money", which it can be said speaks directly to today's issues regarding the price of healthcare in our country. But we were also pleased by the variety of answers, which included many promotional products we offer here at Positive Promotions, from tote bags, water bottles, and lunch bags to t-shirts, yoga mats, and pedometers. You can find all these and more in our vast wellness selection, to be used as rewards for anyone who joins your Employee Wellness Program, or as supplements to discounts on insurance or other unique incentives.
One of the final survey questions we asked dealt with the department responsible for Employee Wellness programs at the particular hospital or healthcare organization.
As expected, many responded "Human Resources" and a number gave a more specific "Employee Health" answer. But it's interesting to note some of the other responses we received, including "Occupational Health", "Community Health Team", "Nutrition Services", and "Wellness Center", among others.
This proves, as do many of our research conclusions, that no matter what department is in charge of Employee Wellness at your facility, and however you reward employees for participating or try to boost awareness of this important educational topic, you can be rest assured Positive Promotions is here to help, with all the tools and resources you need to make your program succeed!
